The long awaited Crucible of the Dragons for OpenQuest is now available via DrivethruRpg.com
A 260 page sandbox setting/adventure book for OpenQuest, but broadly compatible with other D100 rpgs, inspired by Ancient Greece, Clark Ashton Smith and Ray Harryhausen monster movies!
Hi Newt,
It’s wonderful to finally get this product out there. I hope people enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed being part of the creative process.
The aim of this project for me was to return to my gaming roots, to create a game that felt like RQ did back in the 80s where my intrepid gamers could explore the world, clad in bronze armour, wielding the power of the gods against vile monsters in dust covered ruins. Pherae has ruins, gods, monsters and if that isn’t to your taste then you can politic with the ministers and guilds in the great city of Draxa. The setting is totally Sandbox, with scenario hooks littered throughout as well as several challenging scenarios and a fully outlined compaign which takes you across the island, exploring it s deeper secrets.
There are fully detailed cults, such as Zorius, King of the Gods, Taros, God of War, Gorga the Mother of Monsters and Drachos the source of Draconic magic.
There are multiple organisations for your players to join such as the Sodality of Adventurous Antiquarians, the Sons of Khata and the Wyrm Slayers. These all have motivations, positions in society and deep secrets. Initially your character may only be a lowly member of the guild, but in time they could rise to lead it.
There are dozens of new monsters, vile draconic creatures and a fully detailed race, the Dracorians. Demons are given a huge amount of detail, from how to summon them, to new spells and detailed creation rules, that still retain the Openquest ideal of logical rules and ease of access. Now you can summon diabolical imps, glorious guardians of the gods and Demon Lords.
I hope that everyone who buys the book, gets a huge amount of pleasure from it.
Once again, thanks to Dr Mitch and Newt for all their hard work, camaraderie and support.
