When Dr Dee arrived at Christ’s College in the town of Manchester in 1595, he was unfortunate in the second week of his residency as Warden to fall ill of a particularly bad fever and was confined to bed for a week. During this time, he hallucinated wildly and had a reoccurring vision of the Manchester of 2018, which by then had grown to be a metropolis better known as Mancuria. When he recovered, he sought out a local artist, John Grayson. With his help, he created the pocket dimension of Mancuria, which exists within a painting that Grayson was commissioned by Dee under strict instructions to produce.

While John has disappeared, and Dr Dee has forgotten about the painting, it is possible to use it to visit the magical city of the future, where the Spanish Sorcerer plots the downfall of a city whose residents ride the wind in airships.
